Global Investors for Sustainable Development Alliance

GISD Strategy Group Meeting & the SDG Investment Fair

Event Date: End Date: | 09:00 am - 06:00 pm EST

The Financing for Development Week (FFD Week) held on 20-24 April marked the first major platform for the follow-up to FFD4, with the GISD Alliance members active participating in various events across the week.

The week commenced with the GISD Alliance Strategy Group meeting on 20 April with members coming together to discuss progress made on the work programme, key actions to deliver on objectives, and ideas on enhancing the Alliance’s reach and impact.

As part of the FFD Week, the 11th SDG Investment Fair brought together governments, investors, and development partners to accelerate investment in sustainable development. Taking place from 21-23 April in New York, the Fair featured a rich programme of high-level policy dialogues, thematic investment roundtables, and hands-on finance and investment clinics.

The policy dialogues addressed some of the most pressing issues, including unlocking private investment for sustainable development, scaling up blended finance, increasing investment opportunities through country-led financing platforms, aligning financial regulation with sustainable development, and expanding access to finance for MSMEs.

A diverse group of countries, including Djibouti, Zambia, Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, Suriname, Sierra Leone, Costa Rica, Jordan, Mauritius, Seychelles, Serbia, India, Mexico, and South Africa, presented investment-ready projects in energy transition, blue economy and nature capital, and digital transformation.

The investment clinics offered hands-on guidance on PPP structuring and appraisal, operationalizing blended finance funds, and building investment readiness. These sessions equipped participants with practical tools to move projects from concept to execution.

With over 1,000 non-government stakeholders registered, this edition saw the highest level of engagement to date.
